Igor Karim is a Filmmaker, Anthropologist, Research Assistant and PhD candidate at the Theater, Film and Media Studies Institute at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main. Before relocating to Germany, he worked with monitoring and protection policies for the isolated indigenous groups at the National Foundation for Indigenous Peoples (FUNAI) in Brazil. As a Research Associate for the
BMBF Funded project "Human-Thing Interrelations in Indigenous Societies" he produced 3 Short documentaries with the Aparai and Wayana indigenous groups in French Guyana. His PhD research investigates the relationship between camera operation and personhood construction within ethnographic filmmakers. He currently teaches seminars on practice-based research using
film production, speculative fiction and Deleuzean fabulation and visual anthropology at the Theatre, Film and Media studies institute.
