Description

Silo Solos-2 is a collection of performances in the Sound Silo and Light Silo at the Otto Piene-Elizabeth Goldring Art Farm in Groton, Massachusetts. The twin silos have served as studios for new works during the global pandemic, created by alumni of the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at MIT.

Silo Solos-2 Program:
1-Siloed *2021 by Ellen Sebring. The artist—as time traveller—finds artifacts of 2021, the silo like a grounded spaceship under the starry sky of Otto Piene’s Light Ballet.

2-Corona Diaries II by Elizabeth Goldring and David Whiteside. Goldring reads her 2nd volume of Corona Diaries poems with Whiteside’s flute improvisations in the Sound Silo.

3-Unraveling Oculus by Beth Galston & Ellen Sebring. Galston transforms materials collected on walks in the deep woods to reveal the silo’s "oculus."

4-Open Eye by Seth Riskin. Riskin explores perception through light: illumination turns inward, and he moves encased in a bubble to rebuild the world anew.

5-Sentient R_Map (Room | Region | Relations, Unfolding) by Bill Seaman. Seaman’s poetic texts, landscapes, spoken texts and generative music circle the Sound Silo.

6-Silo Piece in Three Movements by John Whiteside. Whiteside plays Paul Matisse’s bell, the tonal basis for the music combined with David Whiteside's flute.
