Dysmetropsia

VR - AR 2022
By: Evgeny Tverdokhlebov

Imagine that the space you enter starts distorting. Your perception changes as well. You lose the ability to perceive sizes and shapes. One moment the surrounding objects seem massive, the next they appear minuscule. You lose any understanding of what the distance is between you and them. You cannot discern between the closer and more distant objects and cannot figure out how far they are in reality. Out of nowhere, you start hearing sounds that create tension and a sense of discomfort. Imagine what Alice in Wonderland experienced.

The VR installation DYSMETROPSIA conveys this change in perception, also known to be a symptom of Alice in Wonderland syndrome (AIWS)/Dysmetropsia.
