Luc Dardenne

Luc Dardenne is a celebrated filmmaker and producer from Belgium. Together with his brother, he belongs to the exclusive club of those who have received the Palme d'Or multiple times in Cannes.

Luc Dardenne was born in Les Awirs in Belgium in 1954. Luc studied philosophy and sociology. In the 1970s he made documentaries with his brother Jean-Pierre, before they founded a production company called "Dérives" in 1975 and a few years later, in 1994, the company "Les Films du Fleuve".
In 1987 they made their first feature film, FALSCH, an adaptation of a play about the last survivor of a Jewish family wiped out by the Nazis during World War 2. With ROSETTA they won their first Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1999. In 2005, they won a second Palme d'Or for the film L’ENFANT, joining the very exclusive club of two-time award-winning filmmakers. They followed up this great success: In 2022, the Dardenne brothers won the prize at the 75th Cannes Film Festival for their latest film TORI AND LOKITA.
